Fight Night: Origins

The House of Ideas: The Lost Scene
Written by Mark Pracht
Directed by Chad Wise
Starring: Bryan Breau, Megan Clarke and Brian Plocharczyk
With Fight Choreography by Brian Plocharczyk

Ghostlight Ensemble is excited to join The Factory Theatre for the revival of Fight Night — a violent cabaret celebrating the art of stage combat through original storytelling and violence design. The latest installment of this periodic series celebrates its origins and the origins of all things.

Ghostlight's contribution is The House of Ideas: The Lost Scene that imagines a more violent end to the collaboration between Stan “The Man” Lee — writer, co-creator, self-positioned face of and greatest champion for Marvel Comics in the 1960’s and beyond — and Jack “The King” Kirby — his rough and tumble collaborator and arguably the greatest artist the genre has ever seen.

The Fight Night piece is built off of on Mark Pracht’s The House of Ideas — the third installment of his Four Color Trilogy produced by CityLit Theater, which was mounted in the fall of 2024. That play was a dramatic retelling of the often-tumultuous relationship between the two men. In real life, the anger and frustration these men felt throughout their time together only ever boiled over into snide digs at one another and the occasional shouting match. But What If…

The piece, written by Mark Pracht and directed by Ensemble Member Chad wise, stars Bryan Breau, Megan Clarke and Brian Plocharczyk. The fight choreographer is Brian Plocharczyk.

Fight Night was originated by Nothing Special Productions and last laced up its boots and took to the mat in 2016.
