There’s No Crying in Theatre:
A League of Their Own Live Reading
Ghostlight Ensemble presents the next installment of its ongoing live movie reading series: There’s No Crying in Theatre: A League of Their Own Live Reading.
Join us for at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, at the Celtic Crown (2356 W Cullom Ave, Chicago, IL 60618) in North Center, to play ball in the back room of a bar.
A League of Their Own is a 1992 film that tells a fictionalized account of the real-life All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL). As America's stock of athletic young men is depleted during World War II, a professional all-female baseball league springs up in the Midwest. Competitive sisters Dottie Hinson and Kit Keller spar with each other, scout Ernie Capadino and grumpy has-been coach Jimmy Dugan on their way to fame.
